The recommendations to the Board of Educatioh include increasing class sizes by one which would lead to a reduction of 145 to 150 theannouncement said. Also under consideration: eliminating 12 or 13 elementary foreignlanguage teachers, a 13 perceng cut in central administration budgets and a delay in renewing contractw with all interim employees. All employees affecte d by changes will be receiving more information over the next two tothreee weeks, the school district said, as principals make adjustments to their staffing plans. All school district s in the state as well as everyother state-funde agency have been impacted by the recession, whicn has slashed tax revenues.
“Wee recognize that this is distressingv news,” said Superintendent Maurice “Mo” “We want to emphasize that we are taking this step in order to deal with potentially catastrophi c budget reductions at thestate level” and not as a reflection on the affectex employees, he added.
